Lodging
Our lodging is the Parkview
Inn in Salem, NH: http://www.parkviewinn.com/
You'll want to reserve your room
now. Although the motel would not set aside rooms for
us, it is the most reasonably priced lodging in the area and ideal
for our field sites. Call 866-721-5139 and
tell the desk that Shannon has approved the 10% discounted rate for
our group. (Don't forget to ask for a non-smoking room is that's your
preference.) Rooms have wireless internet, refrigerators and microwave
ovens. Here are our prices (including tax):
Queen-sized bed - $62.10
King-sized bed - $71.99
Two beds for two people - $74.70
Secondary Lodging
If you're looking
for something more upscale, we have a rate of $86.40 (for up to four
people in a room) at the Sleep Inn in nearby Londonderry, NH (http://tinyurl.com/bhw7t2).
Tell them that Keith has approved the rate for the DSA meeting. You must reserve
these rooms by June 30.
Camping
Angle
Pond Campground in
Sandown, NH - This campground, our recommendation, is centrally located
to most of our field sites (~12 miles from the hotel). The rate
is $25/night for a "rustic" site,
meaning there's no electric and you have to walk in from your car. For
$30 you get electric (and are likely surrounded by motor homes). At present
there are 4 rustic and 5 electric sites available during our date window.
Contact info available at the website: http://www.ucampnh.com/AnglePondGrove/
Exeter Elms - Appears
a little less "mobile-home-park-like" but is off to the edge
relative to both Salem (25 miles) and the majority of the sites. The
web site is http://exeterelms.com/.
Green
Gate Campground -
Looks similar to the preceding. Both have rates comparable to Angle
Pond.The Exeter
sites might be better for ambiance. Web site: http://www.ucampnh.com/greengate/index.php

Maps
Field Site Maps - Here's a
set of maps to our field sites (a 2M PDF, Version 2). If you want
these in color for your visit, you'll want to print these out on your
own. We'll have black-and-white versions at the meeting. Or please
bring your own black-and-white printouts as well.
Google Earth Site Map -
You'll need Google Earth to view this map. It includes high-priority
and potential survey sites in Rockingham County and nearby parts of
adjacent counties. We'll have printed versions for participants when
they arrive. Click on any
polygon, line or point for information on the site. Color coding on
the map refers to condition rankings from the NH Wildlife Action Plan:
- Red = statewide significance
- Green = regional
significance (within state)
- Yellow = everything else.
Use this
map to inform your wandering during the meeting.
We encourage exploration of poorly covered areas top help provide
data from this region to the New
Hampshire Dragonfly Survey (NHDS).
Of course, the Delorme Atlas and Gazateer for New Hampshire will
of of immesurable help to anyone attending this meeting.
